Speech Team Wraps Up Regular Season

As the Leigh speech team’s season approaches its end, the team attended its final regular season meet at Lakeview on February 28th, and then hosted “Community Night” on March 3rd.

The Lakeview meet was Varsity only, and although we didn’t take a full team, many students placed. Senior Luke Eisenmann placed 2nd in Extemporaneous, seniors Jocelyn Donnelly and Lexis Gleason finished 2nd in Duet, and Sydney Messerlie finished 3rd in Serious Prose.

On Speech Community Night, every member of the team had the opportunity to showcase their speech.

Brayden Loseke and Luke Eisenmann showcased Extemp. Cade Hoesly performed his Humorous Prose. Trenton Olson and Brayden Loseke gave their Informative speeches, while Kaylee Brabec and Luke Eisenmann did Persuasive. Kaycee Lange and James Moore each performed their Poetry selections. Sydney Messerlie performed her Serious Prose and Program of Oral Interpretation.

While the individual events were taking place in the social studies and JAG classrooms, the group events were going on in the band room, beginning with Shaylynn Marty and Kaycee Lange performing their Duet Acting piece.

Next up, the OID of Marty, Lange, Vivian Bunner, and Ariyah Ross, performed.

After that, Lexis Gleason and Jocelyn Donnelly performed their Duet, and then to round out the evening, the OID team of Gleason, Donnelly, Liz Hoffman, Cade Hoesly, and Cash Fehringer performed.

Assistant coach Mrs. Kim Loseke said, “We had a great turnout for community night! It was another opportunity for everyone to give their speeches, and we appreciate everyone who attended."
