Wrestlers Compete in Howells

The Clarkson-Leigh Patriot Wrestlers headed to Howells to compete in the Howells-Dodge Invite on Saturday, December 2.

This was a huge meet, with a total of 15 schools competing. Not having a full team, Clarkson-Leigh placed 13th with Hartington Cedar Catholic winning the tournament.

The Pats only brought five wrestlers due to two injuries and one being sick. Senior Morgan Bunner finished the day 5-0, winning his bracket at 126. Senior Andrew Rivera finished 3rd at 285 going 3-1. Levi Anderson got 7th place going 0-4. Brett Wemhoff went 0-4 and placed 8th. Wyatt Langhorst didn’t place and went 0-3.

The Patriots have a total of 8 wrestlers out this season—Andrew Rivera, Morgan Bunner, Levi Gall, Brett Wemhoff, Wyatt Langhorst, Beau Baumert, Levi Anderson, and Coal Fernau. The coaches are Tyler Reeves, Jorge Gomez, Mr. Horacek, and Mr. Molacek.

“We competed hard and had some guys wrestle in their first tournament. Morgan finished 1st and avenged a loss from state last year. Andrew also had a solid day, finishing 3rd,” said Coach Reeves.

Senior Morgan Bunner said, “I thought everyone wrestled well at the first tournament of the year. We showed a lot of improvement since the start of the season and it showed in our performance.”
