Cyclones Lose Last 3 Regular Season Games

The triangular on Tuesday, September 26th hosted by the Highway 91 Cyclones was originally supposed to be played in Dodge, but was, however, moved to Leigh due to field conditions. The Cyclones' opponents for the evening were Fort Calhoun and Central City.

To start off the night, the Cyclones faced a tough Central City team, with Central City’s pitcher throwing a no hitter to beat the Cyclones 12-0. Although it was a no-hitter, Jordyn Ratzlaff, Grace Hansen, and Reann Bruhn were able to get on base by being walked.

In the Cyclones second game against Fort Calhoun, the Cyclones were able to have three hits from three team members. The Cyclones fought hard but were unable to come away with the win as Fort Calhoun won 11-1.

Freshman Grace Hansen said, “We knew going into both games it was going to be tough. We struggled to hit the ball but we made the plays on defense”.

Drew Machmuller, assistant coach of the Cyclones, said, “Central City and Fort Calhoun each came as advertised, each of them are solid ball teams. It's great to see that type of competition as we head into our postseason next week.”

The Patriots then played Twin River in their final regular season game on Thursday, September 28.  Twin River was another team with over 20 wins, and the Patriots were defeated again 1-11 to finish up their regular season play.

It has been a tough season for the Patriots as they completed the regular season with a 5-20 record, but they look forward to doing their best in the post season!  Their first sub-district game is against Pierce on Monday, October 2.
