Cyclones Take 5th in Conference Tourney

The Highway 91 Cyclones were the host school for the East Husker Conference softball tournament on September 25th, 2023.  The tournament was held in West Point. Although the games were supposed to be held Saturday, September 23, it was rescheduled due to rain.

The Cyclones started off against the tough Twin River Titans in their first pool play match, losing 0-6. They next matched up next against the two-seeded Tekamah-Herman Tigers and dropped it 1-11.

These first two losses pitted them against Cuming County, playing for 5th place in the 6-team tournament.

In this close game, the Cyclones pulled out a victory 9-8.

Assistant coach Tiffany Rayback said, “I feel that overall, we played well. Both Twin River and Tekamah are tough teams to beat and they came out to win. The girls were able to pull together a win against Cuming County.”

Sophomore Sydney Messerlie said, “Conference might not have been the best games ever, but in the end, it doesn't matter because we played as a team and never gave up.”

The Cyclones bring their record to 6-18 this season with the win against Cuming County.
