JV Football Starts 2-1

Friday night isn’t the only night for high school football.  Every Monday, the JV team has the chance to battle.

On Monday, August 28, the Patriot JV football team kicked off their season against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge. They won this game 44-0. The next Tuesday, September 5, the junior varsity football team played against Stanton. They unfortunately lost this game in a close one, 30-44.

Their third game of the season came against East Butler on Monday, September 11.  After trailing by 2 at the end of the first quarter, the Patriots took the lead 20-14 before halftime.  After a scoreless third quarter for both teams, the Patriots added 2 more touchdowns and two-point conversions in the final quarter to finish 36-20.

“Defensively as a team, we played really well, but offensively, we still have a lot of work to do as a team, said senior Xander Ross.

“East Butler was a good victory for the boys,” JV Coach Mr. Jarrod Bazata said.  There was a lot of growth from some individuals.”

Coach Bazata went on to say, “The JV players have played really hard and well.  JV is about growing as football players, and that is what we are doing each week.  Little by little they are getting better, and I am proud of their effort during the games.”

With a 2-1 record, the JV team will continue their season with more Monday night lights!
