High School Celebrates National FCCLA Week
This past week, members of the Leigh-Clarkson Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) celebrated National FCCLA Week. This year’s theme is “Together We Are…” in recognition of the many things FCCLA students and advisers represent.
The Clarkson-Leigh FCCLA chapter kicked off the week on Monday by hanging up posters that included fun facts about FCCLA. Also, the entire school received donuts and juice. Monday was the start of the weeklong trivia where students could answer a question about FCCLA for a treat. On Tuesday, a scavenger hunt was held. Students searched frantically for hidden FCCLA logos around the school for a prize. The members also babysat at parent/teacher conferences and passed out FCCLA cookies to parents, teachers, and anyone else that attended the conference. Wednesday was red out. Every student who wore red in honor of FCCLA got a cupcake at lunch. Sophomore Tate Christiansen won the award for the the best-dressed non-FCCLA member. Junior Shelby Fuhr and sophomore Kenzie Noonan won the best-dressed FCCLA members award. On the final day of the school week, Thursday, the FCCLA members passed out Valentine’s Day cards with chocolate. They also sold roses for Valentine’s Day.
“Our chapter had a lot of fun celebrating FCCLA week. It was an extremely busy week full of cookies, cupcakes, donuts, roses, and red! We look forward to continuing our celebration of FCCLA this year as the organization honors it’s 70th birthday!” says Mrs. Hillen, the Leigh-Clarkson FCCLA chapter’s advisor.
“We had fun participating in the many activities this week brought to our school. We look forward to next year!” said Kaitlyn Becher (state president) and Shelby Fuhr (district representative).
