Leigh Speechsters Compete at Conference Meet

Small but mighty is what some may call the Leigh Speech Team. Going into a tough competition, the three that attended gave it their all. This year's East Husker Conference Speech Meet was held at Madison on Tuesday, March 3. The speech members that attended this meet were freshman Albert Diaz, sophomore Audie Tejkl, and junior Emily Loseke.

Albert Diaz performed his Humorous Prose at conference and received two excellent ratings and a 5th and 6th place.

Audie Tejkl also performed a Humorous Prose and was awarded two excellent ratings and two 5th place ratings.

Last but not least was Emily Loseke. She again performed two speeches. For her Persuasive speech she received an excellent and a superior rating along with 6th and 7th place vote. She did even better on her Informative speech getting two superior rankings and a 3rd and 6th place vote.

When I asked freshman, Albert Diaz how he thought the speech meet went, he replied, “The speech meet was fun and there were a lot of teams there. None of us placed or made it to finals, but it was a very competitive meet, and I feel like we did our best.

When I asked Coach Dan Prososki the same question, he said, “Performance wise, I felt these three did well. It was very tough competition. We are the smallest team in the conference, but these three stepped up and gave it their best.”

With District and State speech cancelled for this year, we want to congratulate all the members of the Leigh Speech team for a job well done this season!
