Although it was a long day for the team, the EHC Speech Meet in the North Bend High School proved to be successful overall! Bright and early on February 24, the Leigh students made their way to the fourth speech meet of the year.
Senior Emily Loseke, junior Aiden Miller, and freshman Leah Pinkston all made it into finals. Emily earned herself 5th place in the Informative division, and had a rating of ‘superior’ all throughout. Aiden received 6th place in Poetry, and was ranked ‘superior’ across the board as well. Last but not least, Leah finished in 6th place in Humorous Prose with an overall rating of ‘superior.’
Shelby Paprocki, the coach of the speech team, said “It was another day to get better, and having three members place at Conference was huge! We are excited to have a full week of practice and to get ready for districts.”
Leah, the freshman finalist, had some words to share about the team’s results. “I thought that Conference was a great experience! There’s so much room to grow for the team, and as long as we continue to improve, I think we have all the capabilities to make it to state!”
