Hollatz and Settje Recognized at State Capital Ceremony

On November 20, 2023, two members from the Leigh FCCLA chapter attended the Commissioner’s Recognition Ceremony at the State Capitol Rotunda in Lincoln. The two members to attend the ceremony were Baylee Settje and Izabel Hollatz. Their advisor, Mrs. Hillen, also attended the ceremony with them, as well as Kylie Hollatz. 

The 26th Annual Commissioner’s Recognition session was to honor Nebraska high school students in any CTSO event who had placed in the top three in their nationally.  Baylee and Izzy attended the National Leadership Conference this past summer was held in Denver, Colorado, where they competed and received 1st Place, Gold, in the category Promote and Publize FCCLA. 

At the National Leadership Convention last summer, Baylee and Izzy, attended meetings, workshops, and presentations. Whoever placed in the top three in Nebraska had the opportunity to go to the capitol building and get recognized for their outstanding work. They also had the honor of shaking hands with the Nebraska Commissioner of Education, Dr. Brian Maher, and Lieutenuant Governor, Joe Kelly.

Advisor Mrs. Megan Hillen said, “It was an honor to attend the CTSO Commissioner's Recognition session with Baylee and Izzy. We enjoyed celebrating their success at the national competition with other CTSO members from across the state!” 

Izabel Hollatz shared her thoughts on the ceremony, “I thought that the Commissioner's Recognition Ceremony was a great experience for Baylee and I! We were able to see all of the other students who excelled in CTSOs this year get recognized. Our award was also given to us for winning nationals this summer!”
