FCCLA Members Compete at State

6 Qualify for Nationals!

This year, the Leigh FCCLA Chapter experienced huge success at the 2024 FCCLA State Leadership Conference. SLC was held in downtown Lincoln at the Pinnacle Bank Arena from April 7-9. Chapters from all around the state came together to participate in STAR events and attend numerous sessions. 

The conference gave students the opportunities to attend leadership conferences, many sessions, listen to the keynote speaker - Coach VJ, and compete in STAR Events. At the closing session, the new state officer team was announced for the 2024-25 year. 

 Chapters were recognized for all of their hard work throughout the year with several awards. The Leigh FCCLA Chapter was awarded with the Silver Chapter Award, the Red and White Affiliation Award, and the 1st Place Student Body National Program Award. Mrs. Hillen also received the “Adviser Committed to Excellence” Award, where she was recognized for ten years of service. 

This year, the Leigh FCCLA Chapter had six members qualify for Nationals that competed at state. Out of those that qualified for nationals, there were 4 members who were state champs including juniors Brynn Settje, Ella Urban, Baylee Settje, and Izabel Hollatz. The other two members who qualified for Nationals were freshmen Vylet Hollatz and Emersyn Urban, who received runner up at state. All of these girls qualified for the National FCCLA Conference in Seattle, Washington from June 29th to July 3rd. 

Overall, the Leigh FCCLA Chapter members received 5 silver medals, 4 gold medals, and 6 National Qualifiers. 

Gracelyn Eisenmann, a chapter officer stated, “This year's state conference was successful for our chapter with a few groups qualifying for nationals. The State Leadership Conference was a great opportunity for members to compete, attend sessions, and grow leadership skills.”

Mrs. Hillen, the Leigh FCCLA Adviser stated, “I am so proud of the Leigh FCCLA chapter and their accomplishments at the State Leadership Conference. The students in attendance competed well and positively represented our chapter. I look forward to traveling to the national competition to see their continued success.”

Macy Clausen and Gracie Eisenmann in Focus on Children Level 3; Jocelyn Donnelly and Halle Korth in Chapter Service Project Display Level 2; Ella Higby and Madilyn Freudenburg in Focus on Children Level 2; Liz Hoffman in Career Investigation Level 2

 

Gold Medalists:

Tanyn Larson and Cassi Rayback in Chapter Service Project Display Level 3; Grace Hansen and Rebecca Hastreiter in Nutrition and Wellness Level 2

 

State Runner up:

Vylet Hollatz and Emersyn Urban in Interpersonal Communications Level 2: (National Qualifier)

 

State Champions: 

Baylee Settje and Izabel Hollatz in Chapter Service Project Portfolio Level 3: (National Qualifier); Brynn Settje and Ella Urban in Sustainability Challenge Level 3: (National Qualifier)
