Students Shine at “Swift-Themed” Music Concert

The elementary school had their annual Pre-K through 6th grade music concert on Monday, April 22 in the Leigh High School gym. But this wasn’t just a regular concert – it was a Taylor Swift-themed concert with all classes except the preschool singing songs from the popular artist.

The preschool, directed by preschool teacher Tiffany Cash, sang 3 songs, including “Its a Beautiful Day,” “Down By the Bay,” and Top of the World.”

The kindergarten sang “Our Song,” “The Best Day,” and “Love Story.”  The first and second graders belted out “Mean,” “Never Grow Up,” and “You Belong With Me.” The third and fourth grade sung “Red,” “Getaway Car,” and Shake it Off.” The fifth and sixth-graders finished out the night with “Style,” “Bejeweled,” and “ME!”

The fourth graders also played recorders to “We Will Rock You.” Lastly the sixth graders played buckets as drums to “Seven.”

K-12 choir teacher Sydney Wemhoff said, “The students really loved performing songs by Taylor Swift! They were full of energy and had so much fun learning these challenging songs. I also was excited about the 6th grade performing a song on the bucket drums that were donated to us by RedStar this year. They worked really hard learning them and it was fun to bring something new to show the community!”
