Wrestlers Fare Well at Recent Meets

On Saturday, December 20, the Patriot wrestling team found themselves in Wisner for the Wisner-Pilger Wrestling Invitational. The team competed well, having two wrestlers place first.

Brothers Hunter Gall, a 175-pound freshman, and Levi Gall, a heavyweight senior, both took 1st place in their respective weight classes, going 3-0 and ending with a pin.

Hunter Gall found the day rewarding, saying, “It feels good to compete and win. The team also made a good effort getting some wins.”

The rest of the team also competed well. Freshman 132-pounder Mason Faltys went 2-2, Junior 215-pounder Misael Ciriaco finished 1-2, and Junior 215-pounder Wyatt Langhorst ended the day 3-2.

 

Wisner-Pilger Results:

132: Fr. Mason Faltys, 2-2

175: So. Hunter Gall, 3-0, (1st place)

215: Jr. Misael Ciraco, 1-2

215: Jr. Wyatt Langhorst, 3-2

285: Sr. Levi Gall, 3-0, (1st place)

 

Following the Christmas moratorium, the wrestlers made their way to Newman-Grove for the Newman-Grove wrestling invitational. The team had another good outing with four wrestlers medal, including two winners.

Freshman 132-pounder Mason Faltys went 4-1 on the day finishing in third. Junior 215-pounder Wyatt Langhorst went 5-1 on the day, also placing third. The Gall brothers once again ended up in 1st place with sophomore 175-pounder Hunter Gall going 3-0 and senior heavyweight Levi Gall going 4-0.

The rest of the team finished with junior 190-pound wrestler James Moore going 1-2 on the day, getting his first win. Junior 215-pounder Misael Ciriaco finished the day going 0-2 and senior heavyweight Brett Wemhoff went 0-2 on the day as well.

In his first competition since injury, Brett Wemhoff was happy to be out there saying, “It was good to get out there and compete. Everybody competed and it was a very successful day.”

Coach Ryan Molacek had a similar message saying, “The boys had a great showing at Newman Grove. I was impressed with how all of the boys competed and battled every match. They brought back four medals and finished fifth as a team. Now it’s time to get ready for the run to districts.”
