Patriots Even Up Record with Two Wins in a Row
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Patriot football team had a rough start to their 2018 season as they suffered losses from rivals Howells-Dodge and Humphrey St. Francis.
The Patriots went into their third game 0-2 looking to add to the win column. The Patriots gained their first victory on September 14th, in Leigh, against the Parkview Christian Patriots. Clarkson-Leigh put up 58 points in the first half, and that was enough to last them the rest of the game with a final score of 58-38 in favor of Clarkson-Leigh.
The Patriots had their heads high as they traveled to Pender on the 21st of September to face the Pendragons in their first district game. The Patriots were able to put 38 points on the scoreboard in the first half while holding the Pendragons to only 8. But the Patriots weren’t done. After halftime, they put up another 30 points in the second half and held the Pendragons to just another 6. The score at the end of the fourth quarter was 68-14.
“It feels good to be back on the winning side of things,” sophomore quarterback Lance Paprocki said. “Sitting at 2-2 at the midpoint of the season and starting off district play with a win puts us in a good position for a district championship. I’m excited for the rest of the season.”
Assistant Coach Bachman is happy with the way the team is shaping up.
"After a tough start to the season, we are playing really well right now. We have some younger players really stepping up, and the seniors are doing a good job of maxing out their potential. It should be a fun season as we continue to grow as a team."
