Girls’ Golf Competes at Club 91

All 14 of the Patriot girl golfers competed on Tuesday August 29, 2023, in their first home meet at Club 91 in Leigh. The teams that attended were Stanton and Norfolk Catholic.

The top five golfers comprising the varsity team for the Patriots were Delanie Erwin, Ella Urban, and Halle Korth from Leigh, as well as Shaleigh McAllister, and Rosie Villeda-Guillen from Clarkson.

Golf Coach Mrs. Michelle Held said, “The girls did really well for their first meet.  We have 5 new golfers this year, so it was a great learning experience for them.”

Shooting the lowest score for the Patriots was Delanie Erwin with a 59. Next best was Ella Urban scoring a 63. McAllister shot a 66, Villeda-Guillen shot 68, and Korth rounded out the team with 70.

In the top ten of all individual golfers was Erwin receiving 4th place, Urban receiving 7th, and McAllister coming in 10th.

Despite some golfers finishing in the top 10, the Patriots couldn’t beat the competition that day.  The winning team was Norfolk Catholic scoring a 240. Stanton finished second with a 252, while the Clarkson-Leigh varsity shot 265.

Delanie Erwin said, “The weather was very cooperative and a great day for our newer golfers to get more experience on our home course and to get their first meet under their belt. It was a great first meet of the season and an overall good experience for all of our golfers.”
