Girls’ Golf Finishes Season

The girl’s golf team headed to Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus on Wednesday October 4th to compete at districts.

The Patriot golfers who competed were Delanie Erwin, Emilie Hajek, Brianne Kuhr, Emily Stender, and Halle Korth.

Emilie Hajek led the team shooting a 120. The next low scorer was Delanie Erwin shooting a 126. Next was Brianne Kuhr scoring a 128, Emily Stender shooting a 134, and Halle Korth shooting a 136.

The other teams there were Archbishop Bergan, Arlington, Boone Central, Cedar Bluffs, Central City, Fullerton, Oakland-Craig, Scotus Central Catholic, Shelby-Rising City, Omaha Concordia, West Point-Beemer, Omaha Brownwell-Talbot, Omaha Roncalli Catholic, and Wahoo.

The Patriot team ended up 9th out of 15 teams.

Junior golfer Emily Stender said, “District golf was a great experience for everyone. We did the best we possibly could during the meet. The weather was in our favor and it was a great last meet.”

Coach Held said, “The girls did really well at districts.  We played very calmly, and it definitely showed on their second nine with most of them dropping from 5-10 strokes.  Most of the team had either their lowest scores or close to their lowest for the season at districts as well; and as a team we had our second lowest score on a tough course.  I am really proud of the girls as a team and the entire team as a whole. They improved from beginning to end and were very competitive with each other throughout the season - having 10 different girls play on the varsity team this year.  We have no seniors, so I'm looking forward to a great team for next year!”
