Patriots Girls Golf Heads to Battle Creek for Meet
Tuesday September 11, 2023, was a varsity-only meet at Battle Creek for the Patriot girls’ golf team.
The five golfers who competed were Delanie Erwin, Brianne Kuhr, Halle Korth, Paige Kurpgeweit, and Ella Urban.
They were up against other teams from O’Neil, Wayne, Battle Creek, Cedar Catholic, Norfolk-Catholic, Crofton, and West Point-Beemer.
Junior golfer Brianne Kuhr said, “The Evergreen Hills Golf Course is very challenging. It is easy to hit the ball out of bounds or into the tall grass. We have a very young team with no seniors; even though our team did not finish as well as we may have wanted, it was still a very successful meet for us.”
Coach Lynn Morfeld said, “This was the second varsity invite the Patriots have attended, and as a team, we managed to shave off 35 strokes from the previous invite in Stanton. Delanie Erwin stayed relaxed throughout the day and ended with two consistent rounds (61 each). Brianne Kuhr had an impressive start to her varsity career. This is her first 18-hole competition, and she finished with our second-lowest score, 130.”
In addition to Erwin and Kuhr, Kurpgeweit and Korth both shot 144 and Ella Urban finished with 156.
