FFA Celebrates FFA Week With “Ag Olympics”

FFA officers celebrate National FFA Week with "Ag Olympics" at the elementary.

The week of February 19-22 was National FFA Week, and the Leigh-Clarkson Chapter celebrated each day to promote their organization.

Monday was “Alternate Vehicle Day” where students drove farm vehicles to school. Throughout the day there were logos in the school that students could find and return to FFA Advisory Mrs. Brandy Held for a piece of candy.

On Tuesday before school, the FFA offered doughnuts and juice to students and staff.

Wednesday was “Ugly Vehicle Day.” Students could drive their ugliest vehicle to school. Mrs. Sayers was the judge and decided that senior Garrett Schroeder had the ugliest vehicle. After lunch on Wednesday, students stayed in the gym for some trivia questions about FFA. The junior class knew the most answers and won candy.

On Thursday the chapter wore their FFA t-shirts. In the afternoon the FFA officers held Ag Olympics at the elementary for the students there. The elementary kids participated in wheelbarrow racing, herding animals with balloons and fly swatters, and horse races on stick horses.

“Ag Olympics was a fun time and a good experience for the younger kids,” senior Haden Held said.
