Patriots End Regular Season with a Win
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Clarkson Leigh Patriots played their last regular-season game on Friday, October 25, 2019 against Emerson Hubbard in Leigh.
The Patriots came out strong in the first quarter when Eli Hays returned the opening kickoff back for a touchdown. Clarkson Leigh had a failed two-point attempt but went up early 6-0.
Hays also had two more rushing touchdowns in the first quarter. The Patriots put in both two-point conversions making the score 22-0 going into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, the Patriots added four more touchdowns to their score. Lance Paprocki reached the endzone twice while Drew Beeson and Eli Hays both reached the endzone one time. The Patriots put three out of the four two-point conversions in. Also, the Patriots had a safety giving them 54 points going into halftime.
Emerson Hubbard also reached the endzone in the second quarter off a 41-yard pass. Emerson Hubbard failed to put the two-point conversion in making the score 54-6.
In the third quarter, the Patriots came up fired up after halftime again, scoring off a 65-yard interception return. The Patriots out the two-point conversion in bringing their score up to 62. The Pirates also scored in the third quarter but failed to put the two-point conversion in.
In the fourth quarter, Kanyon Held scored a touchdown for the Patriots off a 5-yard run. The Patriots kicked the extra point after bringing their score to 69. Emerson Hubbard also reached the end zone but failed to put the two-point conversion in making the score 69-18 at the end of the game.
When asked about the game, assistant coach Bachman said, “I was very pleased how hard we played and our execution. It was a fun way to close out the regular season. Our team has sure grown a lot this year.”
Junior Trevor Zulkoski said, “I thought we played pretty good and can't wait to see how far we can get this season.” The Patriots finished their final season with a record of 6-2.
