JV Football Begins with a Win

The Patriot junior varsity football team has opened up the season .500. In the first two weeks of the JV season the Patriots took on opponents, Lyons-Decator Northeast and Stanton, going 1-1 through the start.

JV football coach Jarrod Bazata said, “The JV football season is in full swing, and the boys are playing well and getting better each week.”

They opened the season with a win, beating the Lyons-Decator Northeast Cougars in a hard fought (36-24) victory.

In their second game they took on the Stanton Mustangs, suffering a (6-44) loss.

The start to the JV season has brought up some of the struggles of having a small team.

A sophomore member of the football team, Tyce Larson said, “We fought hard; having only 11 guys suit up was tough, but everyone got plenty of playing time and learned lots of new things."

JV coach Jarrod Bazata said, “With the numbers we have, we need everyone in order to just complete each JV game each week. JV games are all about preparing the boys for the varsity level, so if we are getting better, then it is a successful JV season."
