JH Wrestling Begins Season

By: Morgan Bunner, a freshman at Leigh High School

The junior high wrestling season is in full swing with meets at David City, Newman Grove, and Howells-Dodge

The season kicked off at David City on November 13.  At this meet, Clarkson Leigh finished second behind David City Aquinas. Jacob Koehn placed first, Luke Eisenmann placed second, and Levi Gall finished third.

At the Newman Grove meet on November 19, everyone on the team clinched first place medals, and the team finished third overall behind Boone Central/Newman Grove and Central Valley.

“The Newman Grove tournament was a great experience for the second tournament of the year.  We all improved and placed well,” seventh grader Luke Eisenmann said.

At the Howells-Dodge meet on November 21, Eisenmann finished third, Koehn finished 2nd, and Gall finished third.

The JH Wrestling boys took down the competition at Howells-Dodge by clinching second overall and all three being in the top three.

“The Howells Dodge Junior High Invitational tournament was a small tournament with only 60 total wrestlers but there was great competition and everyone on the team fought hard and tried their best,” said Eisenmann.

The Patriots are coached by Clarkson teacher, Mr. Tony Horacek.

“The wrestlers have competed hard and represented the Patriots well in each of these competitions.  We are eager to continue giving a great effort at practice and in our final competitions so we can improve as much as possible as we finish the season,” Horacek said.
