Patriot Wrestling Goes 1-2 at Home Quad

By: Sydney Reeves, a sophomore at Leigh High School

About a month into this year’s season, the Patriot Wrestling team is eager to be able to see more matches every day. On Tuesday, December 15, the Patriot Wrestling team had a quad at their home gym in Clarkson. They competed against Logan View, Archbishop Bergan, and Howells/Dodge.

The first dual of the night was tough for the Patriots, with Logan View beating them 62 to 10. Dylan Higby and Bryce Jurgensen both managed to pull off a win in their matches. The second dual for the Patriots came out in their favor, as they defeated Archbishop Bergan. The final score results were 42 to 30.

The third dual of the night was another tough competition, with Howells/Dodge defeating the Patriots 33 to 21. Although the Patriot Wrestling team stuck with them the entire time, they could not take the victory.

Freshman Nathan Bahns said, “I think everybody wrestled very well even though we did not have the best outcome. I think we have all learned from it and will get better.”

Head Coach Tyler Reeves said, “I thought we wrestled hard, and I am happy with our effort. Hopefully we can round out our team with two more being able to wrestle this weekend. Overall, we did well. We definitely have some things to clean up since we are such a young team, but that is to be expected. They work hard and are a fun group to be able to coach.”

The Patriot Wrestling team hopes to continue strong throughout their season and get better every day!
