FFA “Connecting the Chapters” Promotes Ag Literacy

The Leigh FFA officer team traveled to Lakeview High on September 25, 2023, to complete their Connecting Chapters Training. Other chapters in attendance were the Lakeview FFA Chapter and the Humphrey Chapter.

To help the team learn more about Connecting Chapters, Brooke Temple from the Nebraska Farm Bureau explained what Connecting Chapters is and how to complete it.

Connecting Chapters is a program where High School FFA members connect with younger elementary students to try to promote agricultural literacy.

While in attendance, the officer team learned some of the skills they will need to complete Connecting Chapters like how to present a book and teach to an elementary class.

Now that Leigh FFA has completed the training for Connecting Chapters, they must read and donate a book to an elementary class, lead an ag literacy activity at their school, and connect to their Local County Farm Bureau.

After completing all of these steps Leigh FFA will be recognized at State Convention.

“Connecting Chapters training was a great thing for me and the rest of the officer team to get to be a part of,” Leigh FFA President Jordan Noonan said, “I'm really excited to be able to bring back the new information we gained to Leigh and help teach the elementary kids about the great parts of Ag.”
