FFA Finds Success at District LDEs

After many weeks of preparation, Leigh FFA traveled to Howells to compete in District LDEs on Monday, December, 4th.

LDEs stand for Leadership Development and is a competition consisting of many different public speaking events.

Leadership Development Events are a great opportunity for students to learn more about agriculture and develop speaking skills that are helpful for their future careers.

This year, Leigh FFA members worked very hard on their LDE projects and showed them off at districts with 13 members qualifying for state and more being named alternates.

“It was exciting to get out with the FFA chapter and be with other schools,” junior Kammy Held said, “We were proud to show our hard work, and we were even more proud when we heard a lot of us went State Bound. Overall, it was a great day to be in Leigh FFA.”

FFA Advisor Alyssa Went said, “We had a great District Leadership Development Events! I am extremely happy with how our members did! There were 17 schools in our district and the competition was the deepest it has ever been in every contest! We qualified 13 kids for the State Convention in April, and we are ready to keep working hard!”
