Senior Spotlight: Hannah Kasik

January 16, 2001, was a special day for Joe and Heather Kasik. They welcomed their first child, Hannah Jo Kasik, to the world in Columbus, NE.

Hannah has four siblings; Alissa, age 16, Kyle, age 14, Ava, age 11, and Mariah, age 6. Hannah’s grandparents are Lawrence and Marilyn Kasik of Richland and Alice Krenk and the late Fred Krenk of Schuyler. The Kasik family also wouldn’t be complete without their corgi puppy, Harley.

Throughout high school, Hannah has participated in volleyball, basketball, yearbook, and FFA for 4 years; One-Act, track, band, and journalism for 3 years; and dance for 1 year.

Hannah has had many memories throughout high school. When asked what her favorite high school memory was she said, “Celebrating in the locker room after basketball games. Only the basketball girls would understand. Our coaches are crazy!”

She says her most embarrassing moment was either the time she was playing kickball her freshman year and broke the ceiling tiles in the gym and left a huge mess for Laura, or the time Mrs. Sayers forced her to dance like a gangster with paper chains around her neck in Tech Apps when they made a rap video. She said, “Let’s just say I was incredibly uncomfortable.”

To get to know Hannah a little bit more, she says that the three best words to describe her are “competitive, caring, and outgoing.” She says that she doesn’t have any big pet peeves or bad habits, but she just doesn’t like lazy people. Her three goals on her bucket list that she wants to accomplish in her life is to build a mansion in the country, learn how to snowboard, and be on a game show.

Hannah has many favorites. Her favorite hobbies are hanging out with family and friends, being outdoors, playing cards, cooking and baking, and shopping. Hannah prefers country music, which makes her favorite song “I Don’t Know About You” by Chris Lane. Her favorite subject in school is Personal Finance; her favorite restaurants are Olive Garden and Ruby Tuesday; and her favorite shows are Criminal Minds and Manifest.

If Hannah were to win the lottery, she said she would probably buy herself a new vehicle and put most of the money in her savings. Some would go to her parents and family, and any leftover would be spent on traveling the world. And if Hannah traveled the world, she would want to go somewhere like Switzerland or Sweden because she says that the countryside is beautiful.

Hannah has earned many honors throughout high school, and her future plans are to attend Northeast Community College and apply for admittance into the PTA program.

After college, in 10-15 years, Hannah sees herself with a job as a Physical Therapist Assistant somewhere in the local area and will be married and starting a family.

Hannah’s advice to underclassmen is, “It ain’t good, but it aint bad.”

Congratulations and good luck, Hannah!
