Senior Spotlight: Abbi Brabec
March 19th, 2002, was an amazing day for Dustin and Melissa Brabec as they welcomed their first born child, Abbigail Claire Brabec, into their family in Seward, Nebraska.
Dustin and Melissa later expanded their family, as Abbi has one sister, Natalie, who is 15 and a sophomore at Leigh. Abbi’s grandparents are Cal and Sue Fuhr of Leigh, and Charmayne and the late Gary Brabec of Leigh. The Brabec family would not be complete without their cats.
To get to know this senior a little bit better, Abbi says the three best words to describe her are “helpful, caring, and energetic.”
Abbi has many favorite things. Her favorite subjects in school are any FCS classes. Her favorite movie is Five Feet Apart, her favorite TV show is Magnum PI, her favorite song is “Something More” by Sugarland, her favorite food is fruit, and her favorite restaurant is In-N-Out Burger.
Outside of school, you can find Abbi babysitting or playing cards.
Throughout school, Abbi has been involved in numerous extracurricular activities including FCCLA for 6 years; journalism, basketball, band, and One-Act for 4 years; and Youth Advisory Committee for 3 years. Abbi has also been the recipient of numerous awards including Student of the Month, and has made the A-B Honor Roll numerous times.
Throughout this school year Abbi has been an aide in the three-year-old preschool room at Leigh Elementary. After high school, Abbi plans to attend Wayne State College and build on this experience by majoring in Early Childhood Education.
In 10-15 years, Abbi hopes to be working at a daycare or a school and starting a family.
Someday, if she wins the lottery, she says she would put it in savings. If she could travel anywhere in the world, she says that she wants to go to any of the U.S. states besides Hawaii.
Abbi says her advice to underclassmen is “We only have one life to live, so live it to the fullest and be happy!”
Congratulations Abbi on all your achievements and best of luck in the future!
