Mrs. Alyssa Went Takes the Reins of FFA and Ag Education

By: Macy Clausen, a freshman at Leigh High School

Upon arriving at a new school this year for Leigh High School students, a few new faces arrived as well. One of those new faces is high school agricultural education teacher and Leigh FFA advisor, Mrs. Alyssa Went.

Mrs. Went was born in Fullerton, Nebraska and graduated from Fullerton High School. After high school, she graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Agribusiness-Banking and Finance. After a while, she decided it was time for a change, so she later obtained her Agricultural Education degree.

Before coming to Leigh High School, Mrs. Went was a teacher at Madison Public Schools, and before that she was a loan officer.

This year Mrs. Went is most looking forward to new students, and of course, a new building!

Mrs. Went is married to Judd Went, and they reside between Leigh and Columbus. They raise competitive show goats and also farm. The two have a 17 month- old daughter named Berkley and a baby due in December. Their family wouldn’t be complete without their two corgis, Lady and Remi.

Outside of school, Mrs. Went enjoys spending time with her daughter and working with her customers she sells goats to. She also loves to watch livestock shows and go on family vacations that consist of “goat trips” to Texas.

We wish Mrs. Went a great start to her career at Leigh!
