Leigh FFA Hosts District, Showcases Talent

Full Leigh FFA Chapter

Competing in a tough district, many hours of preparation paid off for the Leigh FFA chapter on December 8th at District LDE’s in Leigh.

It was a great undertaking for Leigh to be able to host this event, but also a great chance to show off our school and FFA program to over 600 people.

At the Leadership Development Event, many members competed in different events ranging from poster presentations, speeches, interviews, creed speaking, parliamentary procedure, and agriculture demonstrations.

Qualifying more members for state, success was seen in various events. In the qualifying team for state, Tyce Larson, Easton Brabec, and Cash Fehringer competed in an ag demonstration showing the process of milking a cow, pasteurizing its milk, and making ice cream. The parliamentary procedure team also qualified for state as district champions!

In public speaking events, Jurnee Mullenhoff received a purple, qualifying for state in Creed Speaking. Kyler Hoesly, Lexi Bruhn, Harper Went, Bergan Settje, Ryan McMullin, Olivia Hake, Cooper Fehringer, and Ella Hansen qualified for state in their People in Ag posters. Many members such as Hannah Martensen, Luke Eisenmann, Daphne Jedlicka, Sadie Brabec and Wyatt Eisenmann also were finalists in their speaking events.

“Leading up to competition, we worked hard in practices with dedication and commitment. In the end, our hard work paid off with our team qualifying for state,” said sophomore Cash Fehringer.

FFA Advisor Alyssa Went said, “Hosting our District Leadership Development Events was an incredible honor. Welcoming more than 470 talented FFA members showcased the strength of agricultural education in our area. I’m so proud of our own chapter—qualifying 10 students and bringing home two district champions is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and leadership.”
