By: Morgan Bunner, a freshman at Leigh High School
The girls golf team has been keeping busy with meets the past few weeks. They had a nice showing at the Boone Central Invite on Saturday, September 19. The invite included golfers from Clarkson-Leigh, Boone Central, Lakeview, Battle Creek, Scotus, Cedar Catholic, O'Neill, Pierce, Stanton, Shelby-Rising City, Wayne, and West Holt.
With only four players golfing, the Patriots were not able to have a team score, but they still played well. Boone Central won the meet with a low team score of 394. Lakeview was second with 402. Individual scores for the Patriots over 18 holes are as follows: Kaitlyn Fehrer—131; Hazel Mundt—124; Ashly Guillen—130; Cortlynn Cadwallader—133.
On Tuesday, September 22, the golfers continued their meets at the Stanton Invite. No team scores were kept at this 9-hole meet, but the Patriots got great practice in. Ashly Guillen shot the low score for the Patriots at this meet with a 62, and Hazel Mundt was right behind with a 63. Fehrer scored a 65, Cadwallader shot 69, and Trinity Eggerman finished with a 86.
Good luck to the girls’ golf team as they finish out their season in the coming weeks!
