Golf Team Hits Number One at Home Invite

Club 91 Golf Course once again brought good luck for the Lady Patriot golfers in a September 26th Invite. Clarkson-Leigh hosted a number of golf teams, including the West Point-Beemer Cadets, Oakland-Craig Knights, Stanton Mustangs, and Humphrey-Lindsay Bulldogs. Clarkson-Leigh clinched first place as a team by a large margin with a total team score of 433, followed by Oakland-Craig in second with 470 strokes. This invite also marked the final meet for the Junior Varsity squad’s season—they finished with a combined score of 526 strokes.

The number one golfer for the day was Molli Miller of West Point-Beemer, who took 91 total strokes. The patriots did rather well individually, snatching five of the top fifteen spots. Liz Hoffman took fifth place overall with a 104, Hadley Dlouhy took seventh place with a 105, Halle Korth placed ninth with a 108, Emilie Hajek finished twelfth at 116, and Sydney Messerlie took fifteenth with 118. As for other individual scores, Shaleigh McAllister hit a 123 and Hannah Martensen a 127. Ella Higby shot a 140, followed by Madi Freudenburg with a 141. To top off the Patriot scores, Sofia Hake shot 152, and Mia Glissman-Mayner shot 175.

Senior Sydney Messerlie stated, “Friday, in my opinion, was the best I ever shot personally. I loved seeing how much our team has grown over this season, and I’m glad that this is the team I got to golf with. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“I was super proud of how well we performed on Friday and how far we’ve come all season!” said Coach Held. “We had three Patriots place in the top ten and took home first place as a team.”

The varsity team will finish out the regular season with a meet at Oakland before moving on to compete at districts at Quail Run Golf Course.
