Golfers Finish 8th at Stanton

Attending their first invite of the season, the Clarkson-Leigh girls’ golf team traveled to Stanton on September 4th, to compete in an 18-hole tournament.

The top 10 golfers of the team attended the meet with a Varsity and JV team. Varsity placed 5th out of 14 teams and JV placed 8th! Emilie Hajek from Clarkson shot 112, receiving 15th place, and Sophia Morfeld scored closely behind with a 115. Hadley Dlouhy also shot 118.

Senior Elizabeth Hoffman said, “Stanton was an awesome course to play our first varsity invite on. It was a challenge at times, especially with all the trees and leaf coverage, but the team put together a decent round overall. I had a lot of fun getting into a few difficult situations, notably tree trouble, and learning new things along the way. Definitely ready to take on the next meet!”

“I felt as though the meet went pretty well. We learned how to deal with many trees and leaves, played 18 holes, and dealt with out of bounds that is completely different than our course.  We had our first medalist of the season Emilie Hajek with a 112 which is awesome! Our next 2 leaders were Sophia Morfeld and Hadley Dlouhy. Our varsity team received 5th out of 14 teams, and the JV team was 8th. We are excited to for our next home meet the Triangular with Stanton and Pender,” said coach Michelle Held.
