Senior Spotlight: Alicia Holmberg

In the past year, this senior served on the FCCLA State Peer Officer Team as Public Relations Officer. In her sophomore and senior years, she qualified for the Elite Honor Choir. These are just a couple of the honors earned by this talented, creative, unique senior.
Alicia Mae Holmberg, a graduating student of the Class of 2021, was welcomed into the world on December 30th, 2002. Alicia has a family of four, consisting of her parents Troy and Patti Holmberg, and her younger brother, Kyle, who is a sophomore at Leigh. She is also accompanied by two furry companions: her dog Addy, a Dachshund/Terrier mix, and Deacon, a Dachshund.
She describes herself as musical, creative, and near-sighted.
During her high school career, Alicia participated in countless activities and extracurriculars, including FCCLA, FBLA, One-Act, Band, Choir, and Journalism for four years; Yearbook and Youth Advisory Committee for three years; and Quiz Bowl and Speech for two years.
And as an attendee, for four years, Alicia took part in the Symphonic Honor Band and Conference Honor Choir events, even making it to two years in the Elite Honor Choir. With four years running on the One Act cast team, she achieved the Outstanding Actor award three times; twice in District competitions, and once in Conference. Her favorite memories from high school were of the many honor choirs and honor bands that she had attended.
Alicia’s favorite restaurants are Doozy’s and Runza, and her favorite food is pizza. Relatedly, her biggest pet peeve is “sloppy eaters.”
If she won the lottery, she said that she would invest in a large old farmhouse, and that she would fix it up and live in it. She would then pay off her college debt and set up a scholarship fund for elementary teachers.
Alicia plans to attend the Central Community College for Academic Transfer, and later, Wayne State for Elementary Education. One day, too, she wants to visit every town in Nebraska, as well as roadtrip around the U.S. and tour Washington D.C. along the way. She imagines herself living in a small town one day, married, and teaching Kindergarten.
Alicia admires her aunts and grandparents, saying, “They all have important answers to my questions and qualities I one day wish to have”, and her biggest advice to underclassmen is, “Don’t put off your work. It may be hard, but it’s even harder doing it after it’s late.”
