Patriots Down the Pendragons

The Patriot volleyball win streak continued on Thursday, September 10 with a decisive 3-0 win against the Pender Pendragons. 

The Patriots entered the match undefeated, while the Pendragons had a 3-5 record. 

A varsity volleyball game kicked off on 9/10/2020, 5:00 PM. The Patriots fought against the Pender Pendragons, and came out with an astonishing 3-0 win, even despite the last set having been a close game, with 25-20 points in the end. Our varsity players persevered through the entirety of the game, and aim to carry that determination into the rest of their season. 

The last of the three sets was the closest of the game, at 25-20, but the Patriots were persevered and dominated throughout the entirety of the game, and aim to carry that determination into the rest of the season. 

“I thought our passing game was pretty good, and that we ran our quicks well,” junior Kennedy Settje said. “I hope this win carries into our future games and we just keep the winning momentum rolling.”

Settje led the team defensively with 16 digs, while Kayden Schumacher contributed 13.  Senior Cassidy Hoffman and freshman Chloe Hanel recorded 14 and 13 kills respectively, and they were set up by junior setter Makenna Held, who ended with 28 set assists.

 Jennifer Remmereid, one of the varsity coaches, said, "We started each set really tough and got a good lead on Pender each time. Our serving was aggressive and our back-row defense dug some tough hits. We let Pender back in the game in the third set with some missed serves and missing some defensive plays, but we battled back to get the win. It's good to see our players work together after our opponent gets on a run. That's something we will need to use against even tougher teams later in the season."

This win extends the Patriot record to 5-0 on the season.
