Patriot Volleyball Takes Down Bulldogs, Trojans
Clarkson-Leigh volleyball picked up two back-to-back midseason wins these past weeks against the Humphrey-Lindsay Academy Bulldogs on September 18th and the Wakefield Trojans on September 23rd.
After both the C team’s and JV’s games that went all the way to three sets, varsity took the home court against Humphrey-Lindsay. The Patriots battled it out but lost the first set and then came back to win three sets in a row to seize victory over the Bulldogs. Then the following Tuesday, the Patriots hit the road to swiftly claim three sets over Wakefield.
Senior Karly Wendt stated, “Our energy and confidence that we came in with for the Wakefield game led us to a three-set game. We communicated well and worked well with each other, which led to us having a quick night. The Humphrey-Lindsay game was a late-night thriller going into 4 sets. We started off rough with things not flowing how we wanted to and we lost the first set. We knew we had to kick it in gear and bring the energy to finish this game how we wanted. The last three sets were close but we pulled through to catch a dub.”
“Our match against Wakefield varsity games was a great opportunity to get many of the girls some playing time, and we came out strong with dominant performances in the first and second sets. It was especially exciting to see all three levels—C team, JV, and Varsity—come away with wins on the night,” said assistant coach Brianne Bachman.
“Against Humphrey, it was a fun rivalry varsity match and we played a strong game, earning a 3–1 victory. We were able to run a few different offensive looks and really showed how strong of a team we can be in some tough, close-scoring sets. We’re looking forward to building off these performances as we move into the heart of our season and conference play. Go Patriots!!!”
