VB Moves Up to 7-3 on Season
After a hard loss against the Stanton Mustangs on Thursday September 4th, the Patriot volleyball team stayed ready for the challenging competition of a triangular in Wisner against Wisner-Pilger and West Point-Beemer on September 11th.
They started the night off strong, beating West Point-Beemer in the first set 25-14. Then in the second set the Patriots lost 21-25, but the Patriots didn’t lose sight of the ultimate goal. They ended up winning the third set 25-19 to add another win to their record.
Kendall Schneider led the Patriots in assists with 21 while Vylet Hollatz recorded 18 digs, leading the team.
After the win against the Cadets, the Patriots went on to face the Wisner-Pilger Gators, another challenging conference team. The Patriots struggled in the first set, losing 12-25. Even though the Patriots took a hard loss in the first set, they didn’t give up there. They ended up winning the second set in a tight race, 27-25. But the Patriots didn’t stop there, they wanted two wins on the night. They won the third set 25-14.
Maizie Stoklasa led the Patriots with kills having 11, along with Ava Kasik contributing 6.
Assistant coach Brianne Bachman stated, “It was a strong night of volleyball for us at the double quad. Against West Point-Beemer, we played well the majority of the match, with just a slow start in the second set, but we stayed composed and came away with a 2–1 victory. In our match against Wisner-Pilger, we got off to a slow offensive start in the first set that we just couldn’t shake, but the girls regrouped and battled in a close second set before really showcasing their offensive and defensive skills in a dominant third set. Coming away with two wins on the night felt great, and we’re hoping this will be the momentum builder we need moving forward.”
The Patriots continue their season at 7-3!
