VB Splits in Home Triangular
On September 4, the Patriot volleyball team played in a triangular against the Madison Dragons and the Stanton Mustangs. The Patriots came out on top against Madison and unfortunately, lost against Stanton in a close match.
The Madison game ended in two sets with scores of 25-9 and 25-6.
The Patriots fought hard, but could not come out on top in two sets with scores of 25-27 and 17-25.
Reese Wietfeld, a junior at LHS, stated, “The triangular was a great opportunity for our team to play some of the teams that we will see later on in the season! Madison was a great game for us, we came out with lots of energy and ended up defeating the dragons. Then we played Stanton, in the first set we found our groove and ultimately came out with energy. In the second and third set Stanton found a rhythm and made some good plays. In the end Stanton was a great match for us and we can't wait to take them on later in the season!”
Assistant Coach Brianna Bachman stated, “Our girls came out strong against Madison, playing with confidence and energy from start to finish. We won in dominating fashion in two sets, with everyone contributing on both offense and defense.
“Against Stanton, however, we weren’t quite ourselves. While there were moments where our game looked sharp, our normally strong defense and serve receive struggled at times, and our energy felt flat. Stanton played one of their best matches of the season. Although we didn’t come away with the win, we’ll learn from it and keep working to get better.”
