September 17 was another night of glory for the Patriot Volleyball team as they racked up their sixth and seventh wins against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and High Plains.
To kick the night off, the Patriots started off strong against High Plains. After two quick sets, the Patriots took the win.
“Playing HP first was a great way to get the nerves out and just settle in!” Head Coach Becky Schneider said. “They have improved from the last few years, however, we played our style of game and were able to take control of that match!”
Throughout the game senior Cassidy Hoffman led the offensive attack with 8 kills. Following right behind her Kayden Schumacher and Kennedy Settje added an additional ten kills, each with 5. Settje also added 10 digs, while freshman Chloe Hanel added 6 aces in the first game.
After watching both of their opponents in the second game where HLHF battled High Plains, the Pats were ready for another battle.
Making the night even sweeter, the Patriots won their second matchup against the Bulldogs too. They defeated them 25-14 and 25-13.
Hoffman had 14 kills in this game, while Hanel added 7. Makenna Held set them up with 29 total assists.
“We played really well in both games,” Hoffman said. “Especially against Humphrey, we just dominated the game and played together. Our defense and passing was on point which helped to fuel our offense and lead to both wins that we got.”
Coach Schneider believed that doing the little things right was what contributed to the dominating win.
“In both games, we served and passed really well, so everything else just fell into place. We were able to run our offense and get our opponents out of system. We utilized freeballs, served aggressively, and just played really well as a team,” Schneider said.
After these games, the Patriots are 7-0 on the season thus far and hope to keep the streak rolling!
