Girls’ Golf Team Finishes Regular Season with Dual and Invite

By: Jessica Hoffman, a sophomore at Leigh High School

The Patriot Golf Girls’ competed in their last meets before district on September 29 and October 3. On September 29, they played in a duel at Leigh versus Schuyler. On October 3, the Patriot Golf Team traveled to Oakland.

Clarkson sophomore Ashly Guillen said, “We had a lot of fun at both of these meets, especially at the Schuyler dual at Leigh!  Even though it was one of the last meets of the year, it was our first golf meet we’ve had in Leigh, so we knew the course pretty well.”

At the Schuyler duel, Cortlynn Cadwallader shot the low for the Patriots for the day with 58, followed by Kaitlyn Fehrer and Hazel Mundt’s scores of 60, and Guillen’s score of 64.

No team scores were kept, but Schuyler’s Carly Johnson captured the low score of the duel with 53.

At the 18-hole Oakland meet, Fehrer finished best for the Pats with a 122, followed by Guillen with a 124, Cadwallader with 148, and Mundt with 158.

“We are still seeing a lot of improvement on the Oakland course,” Patriot golf team coach Jayden Pokorney said. “The girls were excited to play this course right before districts since that is where our districts are this year.”

Kaitlyn Fehrer was proud of her team’s end to the regular season.

“It was a good tournament to close my regular season out with,” she said. “I am so proud of the accomplishments my teammates and I have made. We are more than a team; we are a family. I’m proud to be a member of Patriot girls’ golf.
