Girls Golf Team Tees off Season in Schuyler
The Leigh High School girls’ golf team teed off their season on August 22, competing in the Schuyler Scramble alongside Wayne, Clarkson, Shelby-Rising City, and Schuyler.
The four-person team was split into pairs for the scramble format. Kaycee Lange and Halle Korth placed fourth with a 42, and Hannah Martensen and Kiera Wiese placed fifth with a 48.
This year the team has a new head coach, Mrs. Sydney Wemhoff. She stated, “It was a great opportunity for the girls to get out on the course, enjoy a fun round of golf, and gain some valuable experience with what to expect at a meet. They competed well and represented Leigh proudly.”
Junior Kiera Wiese said, “It was a fun learning experience. Even though I didn’t golf very well, it was still good to go out and get more practice.”
