Patriots Dominate Double Dual
On Tuesday, September 5, the Clarkson-Leigh Patriots hosted a double dual in Clarkson featuring the West Point-Beemer Cadets, Wisner-Pilger Gators, and Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars. After winning both games they played that night, their undefeated record remains intact at 9-0!
The JV team began the night by playing the Cadets. The first set was a constant battle between both teams but the Patriots prevailed over the Cadets 25-23. The Patriots started off the second set rough trailing 4-14, but they fought back and took the second set from the Cadets 25-23 again.
Next up the Varsity also took on West Point-Beemer. The Patriots took care of business right away and defeated the Cadets in straight sets. Senior Chloe Hanel led the team with 11 kills and 18 digs. Izzy Hollatz and Tanyn Larson also chipped in 7 and 6 kills apiece.
To wrap up the night, the Patriots faced the Wisner-Pilger Gators. The Patriots started off slow in the first set but ended up pulling through and defeating the Gators 25-19. In the second set the Patriots dominated the Gators 25-10.
Senior right-side hitter Tanyn Larson said, “The double dual on Wednesday went great for us. This was our first home game and it was nice being able to play on our home court for the first time this season. The games against Wisner-Pilger and West Point were great opportunities for us to work on our skills.”
