Students Celebrate Prom with “A Night in Vegas”

This year's Jr/Sr prom theme was “A Night in Vegas.” The prom was held at the Leigh fairgrounds on April 9, 2022.
All Leigh and Clarkson juniors and seniors along with the sophomore servers danced the night away. The Vegas-themed decor helped create the mood for the night. Betty Mandel from Stitches and Petals in Dodge decorated for the event with the help of the junior classes of Leigh and Clarkson.
The doors opened at 4:45 for pictures. Lots of parents and family members came down to the fairgrounds to take class pictures. Pictures lasted until 6:15 when the meal was served. This year's meal consisted of spaghetti, chicken alfredo, and breadsticks, catered by Buresh catering out of Columbus. Texas sheet cake made by Sheryl Langdon of Clarkson was served for dessert.
The meal was served by this year's sophomore prom servers. There were 6 servers from Leigh and 4 servers from Clarkson. Servers are the top students academically in the sophomore class.
As a tradition, after dinner was served, the grand march took place. The grand march was open to the public. Parents, grandparents, family members and friends came to see all the juniors and seniors dressed up.
The dance began immediately after. The dance started off with a father/daughter and mother/son dance. The dance lasted until 11pm. Music was provided by Chuck and Sue Folken.
The evening concluded with games put on by the post-prom parents. The games consisted of blackjack, poker, and bingo. The person who earned the most chips by the end of the night won a cash prize.
At 1:30am, students gathered for prizes. Each student's name was chosen out of a hat to go pick a prize.
Prom sponsors were Mrs. Megan Hillen, Mrs. Justine Fischer, Mrs. Caitlin Kabes, and Mr. Tony Horacek.
Senior Makenna Held said, “This year’s prom was a fun, good time. Thanks to everyone who donated their resources and time to make the night possible. It was a great time for everyone!”
