Leigh Alum Joins Teaching Staff!
Launch the media gallery 1 playerOur newest addition to the Leigh Community Schools faculty is a familiar face - Mrs. Sydney Wemhoff.
Starting this school year, Mrs. Sydney Wemhoff took over as the Leigh K-12 Music teacher after Mrs. Cindy Settje retired.
Mrs. Wemhoff graduated from Leigh High School in 2018 (she was better known as Sydney Folken then!), and then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and a coaching endorsement at Wayne State College.
Before coming to teach at Leigh, Mrs. Wemhoff taught choir at Lakeview Jr/Sr. High for one year. It was her first teaching job after college. She will not be coaching any sports this year, but hopes to coach more in the future.
When she is not teaching, Mrs. Wemhoff enjoys golf, playing cards, watching movies and spending time with family and friends.
She is married to Cole Wemhoff, whom teaches math at Columbus Public Schools.
“I am looking forward to a great year in the music department!” Mrs. Wemhoff said. “We have a growing amount of band members and a balanced group in our choir. I am excited to start with the band students; we have recruited quite a few new members already! We also have a large number of 5th graders joining band this year, which is exciting for the future of the program!”
