Patriots Silence BRLD

September 14, 2020

By: Cassidy Hoffman, a senior at Leigh High School

The Patriot volleyball team secured their fourth win of the season against the Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyon-Decatur Wolverines in an exciting display of perseverance on Tuesday, September 8.

The C Team started the night off strong with a win in two sets over BRLD. The JV had a different outcome and lost in two sets.

Assistant coach Jen Remmereid said, "Our JV players are improving every game and are taking advantage to get better at the serve and pass game. We've been working on it in practice and the girls are focused on getting more efficient. I'm excited to see the growth through the next four games."

The varsity game was a close battle. Throughout all the sets, each time one team would score points, the other side would fire back in response by scoring points of their own. It was a back-and-forth game, but the Patriots came out on top.

Cassidy Hoffman led the team with 15 kills while Kayden Schumacher pitched in an additional 13. Alissa Kasik had 28 digs throughout the game.

“After we got settled, we played well as a unit,” said senior libero, Alissa Kasik. “We had a few mishaps throughout the game, but we persevered and finished each set carrying momentum.”

Clarkson-Leigh took the first two sets from BRLD with scores of 25-19 and 25-22, respectively. The third set came, though, and the Wolverines were out for vengeance. They ended up taking the third set forcing the match into a fourth set.

It was another back and forth battle to determine who would take the fourth set, but the Patriots came out on top with a score of 25-18 to secure their fourth win on the season and remain undefeated.
