Panthers Take Care of Tigers at Home
Launch the media gallery 1 playerAfter a busy week last week, the Panther volleyball team was ready to get back at it this week. The Panthers stayed home on Thursday September 9th to take on the East Butler Tigers.
The JV started off strong and took control of the game from the start. They won the game in two quick sets setting the tone for the varsity game to follow.
The varsity girls were ready to take on the Tigers knowing that this was a winnable match. Full of energy, the girls played strong and took all three sets to sweep the Tigers.
Leading the way was Averi Clausen with 7 kills and Reese Wietfeld with 17 assists. Freshman Ella Hansen also contributed from the backrow with 13 digs.
“Our team came out firing from the start of the game and never really let off of the gas. It’s so exciting to see us improve every game and finally put together one full game. We limited our errors, which led to a successful night. It was fulfilling to be able to have our first Panther volleyball win on our home court!” stated senior Vylet Hollatz.
Head coach Brianne Bachman said, “I was very happy with our performance against East Butler. We spend a lot of time in practice emphasizing the importance of minimizing our errors, but just as importantly, having a ‘next ball’ mentality when we do make a mistake. And celebrating our successes. I thought our girls did a great job of that last night. We didn’t allow one error to turn into three or four, and that ability to reset and move on was a big part of our success. It was awesome to get our first Panther win on our home court, and I’m really proud of the way the girls competed and stayed together. Hopefully, we can carry this momentum and confidence into our next set of games.”
The girls’ overall record is now 3-3.
