Boys Basketball Starts Season at Home
The boys’ basketball team began their season by playing two games over the weekend on Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2.
This year’s team has many new faces this year with the loss of many seniors from last year, and they are trying to find their groove. Against Humphrey-Lindsay Holy Family on Friday in Leigh, they hung with the Bulldogs in the first quarter, getting down by four, 11-15. By halftime, the deficit had increased to 13.
After half, the Bulldogs steadily increased their lead with a big third quarter. The Patriots just couldn’t respond and lost 40-68.
The next night, the Patriots faced off against the Madison Dragons. Again, the Patriots had a decent first half, ending down by 4 at halftime. But another slow second half led to a Patriot defeat, 34-45, and a 0-2 start to the season.
Head coach Jeff Bachman stated, “This weekend was a good weekend of growth for us. We got better through the weekend. We didn’t get the results we wanted, but we showed some growth.”
“We came out ok and put the ball in the hoop,” senior Jordan Noonan said about the Madison game. “It really felt like we were getting some rhythm, but too many turnovers is what lost us the game. We showed flashes of what we are capable of. If we get our turnovers down, I will be excited to see what we can do.”
