Patriot Girls Defeat Monarchs, Fall Short Against Tigers
The Clarkson-Leigh Patriots girls’ basketball team faced off against David City Aquinas in Clarkson on January 2nd. The Patriot girls led the Monarchs the entire game, and the final score ended 64-36.
Ten different girls were able to put points on the board for the Patriots. Chloe Hanel led the team in scoring with 21 points.
Two nights later, January 4th, the Patriot girls headed on the road to face the North Bend Central Tigers. The Patriot girls were leading the Tigers the entire game up until the end of the fourth quarter where the teams were tied. The Patriot girls fell just short of a win due to the Tigers going on a roll in overtime.
Chole Hanel again led the team with 33 points and had 9 steals.
Junior Baylee Settje said, “We knew coming into the game that it was going to be physical, and we would have to knock some shots down. In the end, it didn’t go in our favor. We went into halftime with a three-point lead and extended that lead a little bit, but then lost the momentum going into overtime and the fourth quarter. I think our team has learned a lot from this game, and we can only grow from our mistakes.”
