Scouts Best Patriots in Last Regular Season Game

On February 16, the Clarkson Leigh boys’ basketball team traveled to David City to take on the Scouts in their final game of the regular season.

The JV team started out the night. It was a close game going into the final quarter but the Scouts went and outscored the Patriots 18-6. The final score of the JV game was 20-38 with the Scouts coming out victorious.

This was the final game of the season for the JV team. They concluded their season with a record of 3-12.

Next up it was time for the varsity to take the court. The Scouts came out strong in the first half, allowing them to get a steady lead on the Patriots. Going into halftime the Scouts were up 41-20.

Coming out for the second half the Patriots continued to get looks at the hoop but shots just weren’t falling. The Scouts came out on top of the Patriots 33-65. The Patriots ended their regular season 2-17.

Head coach Jeff Bachman said, “We came out and they jumped on us early. I was happy how we fought, but we were unable to dig ourselves out of the hole. They were a good team and you can't give a good team like that an early advantage.”

“We definitely could all tell we didn't come out with a lot of energy, but we were able to tie the game up 5 to 5 early, but some sloppy turnovers let them really take hold of the game. After we cleaned that up we were able to hang with them the rest of the game and battle hard against them,” said senior Jordan Noonan.
