Centennial Tourney Champs!

In their first games of the year, the Lady Patriots sure had a successful day at the Centennial volleyball tournament on Saturday, August 26!

The Patriots played four games and won them all, bringing home 1st place championship medals!

To kick off the day the Patriots played Wilbur-Clatonia. The first set ended 25-16, and the final set, 25-17, Patriots winning.

Their next match saw the Patriots playing Sutton, a traditionally very solid team ranked high in C2.  But the Mustangs were no match for the Pats. The first set ended with the Patriots winning 25-19, and for the final set, they won 25-17.

Their third game of the day was against Lutheran High Northeast. Clarkson-Leigh made quick work of this game with the first set score Patriots 25, Eagles 13. The second set was Patriots 25, Eagles 15.

For the Patriots’ final game, they played the home team Centennial in the championship match. The score of the first set was 25-18, and the second set 25-22, Patriots winning them both!

In the championship game, setters Izzy Hollatz and Kendall Schneider connected with their attackers for 18 and 12 kills respectively.  Senior Chloe Hanel recorded 15 kills on 25 attempts, while Gracie Eisenmann added 6 kills.  Brynn Settje led the team in digs with 12.

Coach Becky Schneider said, “We were very successful at the Centennial Tournament and it was a fantastic way to start our season!  We played some good, competitive teams that pushed us physically and mentally, which is exactly what we want! It was also good to see that we progressively got better with each match, especially with serve receive!”

Senior, and outside hitter Gracie Eisenmann said, “The Centennial Tournament was new this year to our schedule, and I thought we all played really well for our first regular season games. We played hard and didn't even drop a set! After this weekend I'm really excited and looking forward to the rest of our season!”

We congratulate the girls on their successful day and wish them the best of luck with the rest of their season!
