C Team BBall Begins Season

The C-Team Patriot girls’ and boys’ basketball teams began their seasons on December 4th and followed up with another game the following Monday, December 11.

On the 4th, traveled to Humphrey to face the HLHF Bulldogs on in their first game of the year.   The girls battled hard but fell 12-52.  The boys eaked out a 24-18 win over the Bulldogs.

Freshman Ben Rodenburg said, “Everything went well in the first half.  We put up lots of points before halftime. During the second half we scored less and spent a lot of time on defense. We need to work on boxing out and defensive rebounds.”

Coach Jeff Bachman said, “This first game was a very good learning experience for us. The kids did a good job and executed well. It will be fun to see this group grow.”

Next up on the 11th, the Patriots traveled to Wisner to play Wisner-Pilger.  This time, the outcomes were reversed with the girls picking up a win and the boys losing.

Girls coach Rebecca Hiatt said, “The girls played really hard and improved since the first game.  They did a really good job moving the ball and attacking inside.  Emersyn Urban hit the game-winning shot, which was really exciting!”

The girls won 23-22.

The boys lost 29-40 with sophomore Luke Eisenmann stating, “We played hard in this game and learned a lot about ourselves as a team, but we couldn’t come out with a win.  As we continue to learn, we can fix the little things and improve.”

Both teams now have a 1-1 record to begin the season.
