JH GBB Picks up First Win

On Thursday, December 7th, the junior high girls’ basketball team played against Columbus Scotus. Although both the A and B team lost, it was still a good game. Coach Tami Sayers stated, “The girls played with energy and handled the ball well! The scores didn't show it but their skills and ball sense are improving! It is always great to see them improve each game and it was evident in these games!”
Seventh Grader Averi Clausen said, “We played Scotus in our seventh game of the season. We did improve a lot, but we did unfortunately lose. The B game went smoothly and we almost had the victory. The A game went well but didn’t go our way.
On Tuesday, December 12, the girls played Schuyler and picked up their first win of the season!
“We are all so proud of this win, Clausen said. “We ran our offense and defense very well and had good sportsmanship even if the other team didn’t.  I am very confident going forward because I know we are getting better every game.”
“These were fun games!” Coach Sayers said. “We pushed the ball up the floor and had some good looks inside. We were disciplined on defense and that helped us get some steals and fast breaks. The girls worked hard and came out with both wins!"
