Pats Face Vikings Before Break

On December 18, the girls’ and boys’ JV and Varsity teams went against the Lakeview Vikings.

The girls’ JV started the night off. and the final score was 23-9 in favor of the Patriots.

The boys’ JV also had a game and lost 20-64.

The girls started off the night with a slow pace, but kept up with Lakeview with the score 7-7. Later in the second quarter, the girls did not hold back and played their best. The girls kept up good defense by getting many rebounds and scoring quick shots.

Head girls coach Matt Murren said, "The girls did a great job of executing on both ends of the court with efficiency. I thought offensively it was our best game of ball movement, finding different areas that were open and making basketball plays.

They did not slow down and kept scoring points in the third and fourth quarter. They finished the game off with a final score of 48-30.

Junior Baylee Settje said, “Overall, I think we started off really strong and got really good looks throughout the whole game. As a team we really moved the ball around getting a whole bunch of different looks. We are finally starting to get our rhythm, and I can't wait to see what else we can do this year.”

Matt Murren said, “Defensively we did a great job executing the game plan and limiting open looks. It was a great way to head into the holiday break”.

The boys’ game started off with the boys in the lead by 9. They boys slowed down after the beginning of the game. At half time the score was 20-18. The boys were in a close game for the rest until the last quarter. The last quarter the boys slowed down and Lakeview beat them by 11.

Head Boys Coach Jeff Bachman said, “I was pleased with our effort. We showed up and competed hard. We fell short in the end, but made some real strides as a group.”

The girls team heads into the holiday moratorium with a 5-3 record.  The boys’ team is still looking for their first win with a 0-8 record.
